funny how you never mention the looseness of women in other countries. was that really necessary? the statement reeks of a superiority complex.
more on topic, though, you were right to skip the hotel's restaurant, there's much better food to had at other places. I have no idea how they achieved such a high ranking!

I didn't like. It was to expensive for what it is. The rooms were pretty with a good design but were to small and not practical. We stay there 4 nights and it was very unconfortable.
We also had a lot of problems with the bill at the end.
I do not recommend.

Hi Jesper,

sounds like a lot of fun. Especially to go into the rainforest together with the Baàka and Louis. I actually met and interviewed Louis when I was visiting the village – I find him a truly amazing guy!

I just wonder how I'd make the trip on a motorbike with all my camera equipment...

Cheers,

There is another way. By bus from Cameroun. Better roads. Hire a motorbike from Yukadouma and onwards, you can make it in 2 days. In Libango you can hire a motorbike with driver for ca 10.000 cfa . The good part about this is there is a lot of connections to Douala and Yaounde from various places in Europe, an arrival at least every day...easier to arrange the trip.
In Bayanga, there is a place in town, 5000 cfa, stay with the locals and have more fun. Find Louis Sarno in the Baaka village, he can arrange a trip in the forrest with the Baakas. Bring a tent.
Lots of fun!

If you want luxery take a beer at Doli Lodge or book some nights at a new place downriver opened by South Africans, forgot the name.

Hello Nan,

I'm glad that the info have been of use to you! Since you're on a shopping tour, I can only assume that you are more into bags and shoes and dresses than the average person... so, with that in mind, I think you will enjoy these outlets.

- Considered the size of the store, I'd say that one day at SPACE will probably be more than enough. As this is a factory outlet, am not aware of how and when new items arrive to the store. This is not a huge place.

- The Mall is a different matter, as it consists of 22 stores. At the time of writing this, these brands were represented:

• Alexander McQueen
• Armani Jeans
• Balenciaga
• Bottega Veneta
• Burberry
• Dior
• Ermenegildo Zegna
• Fendi
• Giorgio Armani
• Gucci
• Hogan
• I Pinco Pallino
• Loro Piana
• Marni
• Pucci
• Roberto Cavalli
• Salvatore Ferragamo
• Sergio Rossi
• Stella McCartney
• Tod's
• Valentino
• Yves Saint Laurent

So, I guess it depends on whether you're interested in two of them, or all 22 [insert smiley here!]. But my gut feeling is that you will spend almost a full day there [another smiley here].

All the best,

We are travelling all the way from China to Italy next month for our honeymoon (it's actually my shopping tour...lol) and will definitely go there and buy Prada bags!

Thanks for the information and direction, we will probably take train from Florenze and taxi after that.

Do you think 1day for The Mall and 1 day for SPACE will be enough??

What a great review of a great hotel, one of my ultimate favourites in Amsterdam!

Though you have stayed in a garden room I've stayed in before, those rooms feel very elegant and warm and having to descend the stairs for you spacious wellness center, it's something you won't find in a regular hotel. In summer, you should have one of those rooms having the whole terrace right in front of your door! Great to have an aperitif just to have a stroll along the canals (which have been put on the World Heritage list!)

The Vinkeles restaurant is definitely to be recommended, what a great atmosphere and the food is truly amazing (it has a Michelin star since a year).

Next time, try one of the duplex rooms or the Manhattan Suite, which are both in the old building around the garden (the authentic one, you must have your room in the old part) and arrange a canal cruise dinner with your starter, main course and dessert coming from different 5* hotels in Amsterdam while you mere there on your evening candle-lit dinner in a truly exceptional setting!
